We left the hotel at 7:10 am and headed for Egypt. Our first stop was at a resort area on the Dead Sea. We had been traveling about 1½ hours. This is one of the large hotels at this resort.

There was a beach area with people swimming, or should I say floating. Here are two more of the hotels at this resort. We stopped here for a restroom beak.

A couple of hours later we stopped at Yotuata kibbutz for a lunch break. They had great homemade ice cream. About 45 minutes later we arrived at Eilat Israel and stopped here where they produce jewelry form the Eilat Stones.

The stones are found in the nearby mountains and make beautiful jewelry. Here they demonstrated the cutting and polishing of the stones.

This was our first look at the Red Sea. They say it got it's name from the red coral found in these waters. From here you can see the sea ports of Israel, Jordan and Egypt. We went through the border check but were not allowed to take photos.

This is Pharaoh's Island, a castle built on an island used one time as a fortress and also as trade entry. This is Gazallah Valley because there were gazelle's there. It is now a Bedouin community in this Egyptian Desert.

We traveled about 3 hours through this Desolate land. It is like traveling on the moon. All we saw were Bedouins once in a while.

We finally arrived at St, Catherine's Monastery. This is where God first spoke to Moses from the burning bush. This was the entrance we took into the monastery. It was very low and through a narrow tunnel.

This is some of the interior. This is also the sight where the Israelites camped while Moses received the ten commandments. Another scene of the resident area for the monks. There are 23 monks living here. One is an American from San Francisco.

We are here getting educated on the monastery. This tree is supposedly a shoot from the burning bush that Moses saw.

The monastery is the valley of the Golden Calf. This is a rock formation there that appears to be the golden calf.

This is the hotel that we are staying for the night.  It is Morgenland Village at St, Catherine, Egypt.
